An interesting highlight of the tournament was when a father and a son met in the final of the A Grade Men's Singles. As expected the younger player outdid the older one.

2010 ACT Junior Badminton TERM 4 -Training Program

The ACT Badminton Association will conduct junior training sessions for Term 4 from Sunday 10th Oct to 21st Nov 2010

The cost of $70 for 7 lessons will cover insurance, cost of shuttles and court hire. Participants will automatically become affiliated member of ACT Badminton Association

The AGM will be held prior to playing on the Night of TUESDAY, 24 AUGUST 2010,  at Lake Ginninderra College Gym, starting at 7.30 pm Sharp. see notice board

NOTE: Please note that the exam in August will be using the smaller exam room, not the gym, therefore badminton will be running as normal from 3rd to 13 August.

Badminton session at UC gym will start on Sunday 10th January 2010.

No badminton on these dates except as noted above.:

In a major coup for the sport of badminton the BWF have announced that 2011 will see the first ever million dollar badminton tournament. 2010 June Bevan Trophy and Australasian U17 Championships, 2 - 10 April. in Perth, Western Australia.

Some of the ACT Juniors were taking part to combine with the Northern Territory Juniors to form a team "The Territories" in the June Bevan Trophy. After this event, they also competed in the Individuals event.

The ACT Juniors are: Aaron Chua, Anthony Joe, Sheehan Lim, Bong Wong, Katrina Wong and Terrance Wong.

The best results ACT junior players have in Juniors National Tournament. All the hard work that they put on during the past six months.

In Team Event: ACT Team ended at 10th place above the South Australia, Geraldton Western Australia, Central New Zealand 2, and Tasmania.

Albury Wodonga Veterans Teams

Congratulations to ACTive Noir Team for winning the B2 grade at the Albury-Wodonga Veterans Team tournament which was held on the weekend of 31 Oct-1 Nov 2009. They played in C grade last year but were promoted to B2 this year. The team consists of David Ooi, Sky Sim, Olaf Schuermann, Tony Ting, Helen Holcombe, Kelly Fong, Sheila Tran and Indu Sealey.

ACT was also reopresented by Shuen Joe's team in A grade and the ACT Veterans in the C1 Grade. The A Team ended up second in their group and the C1 Team ended up third in the C1 Group.

The A grade team consists of Choo Yee, Peter Robinson, Shuen Joe, Jian Sun, Fiona Payne, Kam Joe, Irene Wood and Carolyn Toh. This team was sponsored by "One Call Property Service".

Anthony Joe, Singles Final and Doubles Final winner at the Under 13 Interstate Series.

ACT young and up-coming player Anthony Joe performed well in the Under 13 Tournament, which was held in Melbourne on the weekend of 16 -17 January 2009, winning the boy's singles final and the boy's doubles final.

Anthony Joe (ACT) defeated Kieren Yong (NSW 1) 30-16 to win the boy’s singles title. Mitchell Gervasoni (Vic) reached the semi-final and Shaun Matthews (Vic) and Jayden Stokie (Vic) won through to the quarter-finals.

Anthony Joe then combined with Mitchell Gervasoni (Vic) to win the boy’s doubles final defeating Kieren Yong and Austin Au (NSW 1) in the final of the boy’s doubles 30-19.
